Pattern Drawing In Fashion Designing

Do you often have trouble finding nice patterns and / or patterns that fit well? In this course, we will draw custom patterns. Expand your clothing collection with a garment made in your style! In this fashion course, you will learn how to make clothes from existing patterns. You work with basic patterns from, for example, the Knip or the Burda. You can use a number of basic materials in our fashion studio.

How do you copy the pattern? How do you choose the fabric? Thick, thin, stretch, or wool? And which haberdashery do you need? You will learn the answer to all these questions in this fashion course.

In the first lesson, you choose all the garments you want to make. You choose a sewing pattern and together with the teacher you draw up a plan for the following lessons. Of course, you go for your own style; you choose the fabric that fits in your wardrobe!

In the following lessons, you will get started with fashion techniques. You learn how to put the pattern on the fabric and then cut it out. Sewing technical aspects such as seams, darts, zippers, and finishing are addressed when making your clothes. Depending on the choice of your pattern, you learn to insert a zipper and make slit or welt pockets.

Operating the sewing machines goes without saying after the course. With the tips and instructions of your fashion teacher, you will learn step by step the different techniques of sewing. 

This course is very suitable for the relatively inexperienced seamstress. But certainly also accessible to the more experienced seamstress who wants to get back to work, will be challenged in this course. In addition to working with a basic pattern, you can also work on adjusting the existing patterns. There is room to create a simple own design by adapting existing patterns to your own design.

Materials such as patterned paper, test cotton, basic yarn are available in the fashion studio and included in the course fee. You can make use of it. You purchase fabric and specific haberdashery for your garment yourself. 

In addition to drawing a basic pattern, we also practice with a model drawing of a skirt and top according to your own design. The patterns are made ready in class so that you can make them yourself in the right material.

You don't need any knowledge of patterns, this course starts with the basics of pattern drawing. Some sewing experience is required so that the samples can be easily stitched together.
